May 2009

We were still in Wichita when May rolled around. Dad would get there & we would finish our job & head home to North Carolina. Uncle Wayne did take us sight seeing (before dad got there) to see the home Papa Don & He grew up in & a school they attended. You can't go to Wichita without seeing the Keeper of the Planes. After returning home it was off to Bristol for the race. We stopped so Mom & Sheila could go shopping & I got to ride the space shuttle & have some ice cream. Nascar was in town the next weekend & we started off Friday night with the Dirt Track which was a lot of fun. Just remember to bring your safety glasses to keep the dirt out of your eyes. We tailgated on Sunday in the parking lot & packed up to head home just as the sky's opened up & poured. They eventually cancelled the race & ran the next day. I was still playing t-ball & got our shirts & team pictures taken. Fortunately the stitches came after those pictures. Yes, I said stitches. Some may have already seen these (sorry if they are a bit graphic), I made it 4 years & 5 months to the day before I got my first set of stitches. We are saying first because I am a boy.
Keep checking back!

April 2009 - It's a long one

April was a very busy month. It started out nice with an open house at my day care center, which was a lot of fun. We had one heck of a hail storm. Still not used to the weather we get back here. Then Easter was here. I made cupcakes, dyed eggs, went on an Easter egg hunt. We went to the races in Atlanta, (actually Commerce) GA & visited the Georgia Aquarium with the Tasca Boys & their parents. I got a big boy bicycle (with training wheels) and at the end of the month we were headed to Wichita to pack up Papa Don's house.

Here are a lot of pictures from our adventures.
Enjoy!
Love,
Jake

February 2009 Update

Well, we weren't in NC 3 weeks & we made a trip back to CA. We didn't forget anything we just missed our friends & went to the races in Pomona. It was pretty weird having to stay in a hotel when we are used to sleeping in our own beds during the Pomona races. While we were there I got to have dinner with my friends Jacob & Jenna again. We always go to Chick-fil-A & eat then play while the moms visit. I also got to stay with Grandma, Papa & Nitro in the motor home & spend time with them at the races. It was also a great place to go & get warm. It was very cold that weekend. We heard it was warmer in NC than it had been in CA when we were there. It was a lot of fun to go to the races. The only bummer was that it rained the entire weekend & they only got 1 qualifying run. Then we had to wait out the rain to get in the race. Dad's new team won 1st round on Sunday but it rained so they had to stay over. Monday rained so they didn't get to finish the race until Tuesday. They lost in the 2nd round but I think they were just glad to get out of there. Mom, Sheila & I didn't wait around. We took our normally scheduled flight on Monday afternoon. We were glad to be home. Kind of weird to say home is in NC. But we were glad to be home.
Love,
Jake

January 2009 Update

Well, here we go into 2009.

As suggested we are going to do a monthly update to get us caught up. Then we will try & get fun adventures posted as they happen, or we will go with the monthly update.
Just playing it by ear for now.
Hope you enjoy!

January 2009

We were almost ready for our big move to Concord, NC. We sent dad to NC on Jan. 2nd, we sent our car on a car hauler on Jan. 5th. The movers came on Jan. 7th. They arrived about 8:30am & with 5 guys & mom, grandma, Papa & myself, they were pulling away from the house at 1:30pm. We were lucky to have Grandma & Papa's motor home to stay in until we left. Mom & I were scheduled to fly out on Friday Jan. 9th. Well about 6am that morning (the day we are to fly out) I got sick. Unfortunately it happened a few more times. Grandma had mom prepared with a wet rag & some bags for our trip. Lucky for mom 10:30am on the way to the airport was the last time I got sick. We made our flight & what ended up being a very tight (meaning stressful for both mom & I) connection in Houston. I fell asleep before the plane took off from Houston & woke up as we were landing in Charlotte. We were able to hitch a ride on the guest assistance golf cart since there was room. I wasn't in the mood to walk & mom had her hands full with our bags. We headed down the elevator to baggage claim & called dad. He was waiting at the bottom of the escalator so we missed each other but he found us at our baggage carousel while Chris & Sheila were making circling the airport.

We made the trip to The Cunningham's but with a brief stop to see our new rental house. It was completely dark so we had to go by cell phone light. We took possession the next day. We were staying with Chris & Sheila until our furniture arrived. It showed up on Jan. 16th & it took 2 guys the same amount of time to unload (8am to 1pm) Then it was up to Mom with Sheila's help to get us situated for our first night alone. We also got our car that day. Dad & Chris were in West Palm Beach, FL testing. How convenient he wasn't there either time with the movers...

The rest of the month was getting settled into our house & finding our way around our new community. My favorite things for the month were getting to sit in some Nascar race cars at Mr. Schrader's shop & snow.

Enjoy,
Love,

Jake

My 4 Year Photos

Well, as I mentioned in the previous post, I went and had my picture made for my 4th Birthday. This is a yearly occurrence. So far all of my yearly birthday photos have been taken on my exact birthday. Guess it pays to have a birthday after the Christmas rush. Here are the six photos we ended up with.
Hugs & Happy New Year!
Jake

New Year's Eve & Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to Me! Can you believe I am 4 years old? Me either. Well, considering all that was on mom & dad's plate we weren't able to get a birthday party planned. But honestly, I didn't notice any difference.
We went to get my 4 year old pictures taken & Grandma got me a couple small Car's toys & I opened a gift from mom & dad. Later that evening, when mom & dad were at Del & Connie's to celebrate the New Year, Grandma & I made cupcakes, which is always fun. My favorite part is licking the spoon. All in all it was a great day!
Happy New Year!
Love,
Jake

Wonder what I got?

Looks like it involves racing...

Checking out my Shake & Go Speedway

Dad taking all the stuff out of the box.
I am directing.

Let me see in there.

Apparently he wasn't doing something right.

Hey, you are squishing me.

That's better.

Can you help me open this?

Figuring out how it works.
Nitro is wanting to get in on the action too.

There it goes.

Shaking the car to make it go.

We are racing!
